Summary

What does home and a sense of belonging look like in Bukit Panjang?

This episode unpacks this huge question with stories from residents who share about their multi-cultural experiences with neighbours, the reasons they keep returning to the heart of Bangkit, and the incredible story of how Bukit Panjang inspired a toddler’s first words!

Also in this episode:

  • Stories of shared experiences that makes the community feel that Bukit Panjang is home

  • We discuss the concept of ‘Kampong spirit’ in today’s neighbourhoods

  • Why is there a sense of community pride in Bukit Panjang?

  • We read out love letters written by residents to their neighbourhood of Bukit Panjang. It features intergenerational living, community spirit, and a warm down-to-earth feeling all round.

It is not the features that make a place a home but the outcome, and the outcome is a sense of familiarity, a sense of comfort and a sense of belonging. Those are the things you cannot replace when you upgrade to a bigger condominium or flat.
