A project by the University Scholars Programme (USP) and the Engineering Design-Centric Programme (DCP) has paved the way for a quieter and cleaner mode of transportation. They have come out with a novel method of converting motorcycles from petrol to electric propulsion. Team Frog Works comprising 2nd-Year students, Mr Brian Teo, Mr Shreyas Rao, Ms Pek Yang Xuan and Mr Aloysius Seah, have also completed a study on the feasibility of such conversion on a large scale. Under the supervision of Associate Professor Martin Henz (USP) and Dr Joerg Weigl (Engineering Design and Innovation Centre or EDIC), Frog Works has converted a second-hand Honda CB400 motorcycle, replacing the petrol engine with a clean system that runs on an electric motor and lead-acid batteries.

Come have a chat with Dr Joerg Weigl and his team, and also see this converted motorcycle in real life for yourself!
